Flop Facts about Korean BB Creams

Before I start with this review. I would like to tell you that I LOVE KOREAN MAKE-UP and all that I'm going to share to you are my own unbiased opinion and based on my own experience. Hope this will help you decide to purchase your very own BB cream.
I'll give you three reasons why I'm not fond of Korean BB Cream.
Don't worry I'll make this short ;)

Let's start!

1. Powdery or Dewy?

Have you ever tried using BB cream?
How was the experience?
For me it was both amazing and frustrating. I was literally pulling my hair while checking my face at school one time. I have heard so many good things about this product, but hearsay are not always accurate for all, sadly, I am one of those few people.

Here are sample of BB creams that I purchased and tried last year.
I used both Nature Republic by Flower BB Cream and Sweet Cotton Pore BB cream by Holika Holika. I got the darkest shade in #2 Natural Beige.

"Sweet Cotton Pore BB #2"

Holika Holika Sweet Cotton Pore is a yellow tone based product made out of Noni and Lotus flower that smells oh so heavenly in my opinion. It's a very thick product that applies silky and dries matte. It didn't cause me any breakout, but the fact that its matte because of the oil control properties is very drying to the face and rather emphasizes my fine lines. I have used it for the first 3 months and I love it the first few days, but I took noticed that my face looks super dry when I have it on. My cheeks started looking like it's peeling and me under eye circle looks more deep.

"By Flower BB #2"

Nature Republic BB by Flower is a grayish tone based product made out of corn flower extract that energizes and brightens the skin. It applies smooth and sets to a dewy finish. I started using it one week prior to Sweet Cotton Pore but I stopped after a week when I had breakouts across my face and forehead. It's not my usual breakouts, but those big and red pimples that are so hard to hide.

Because it dries dewy it's not long lasting and I had a hard time blending the product all over my face. Maybe it's because I have oily skin, but it tends to slide off of my face a few hours after application. Dewy products tend to fade and melt in humid climate so choose something like matte unless you're working inside an air-conditioned space the entire day.

2. Never the right shade

I'm not saying the shades suck because dang the contents are bam, but while it looks absolutely stunning when those Korean actresses perform their magic on commercials, it's not always the same scene when ordinary people like us use it the very same way.

Let's consider the skin tone. Not all human beings are born with porcelain skin and the world also consists of women with darker to deep skin tone. I definitely love using BB because of the good ingredients and the added benefits, but if I start looking like a ghost or patchy, I'd rather not use it at all.

Hope they make more shades in the near future that will surely make more women happy :)

Here are samples of some swatches.

"It looks thick and lighter compared to my deep skin tone"

"After blending it looks fair and very powdery but it stands out"

"Easy to blend with light scent, because it has gray undertones it easily brightens and looks white on the skin"

"It reflects light because of the dewy finish"

3. Ghostly or what?

Because of the SPF  contents, most of the BB creams sold nowadays are light reflector so they give off white cast when you take pictures with flash. Though, I'm not saying that every single BB out there gives off white casts, but still most of them do, so take that to consideration once you decide to buy one for yourself.

Last, but not the least. This might be a big THUMBS DOWN for me, but damn that still didn't kill my love for Korean cosmetics.

Be sure to look out for my next cosmetic escapades.
